Learn Korean: Noun + 전에/후에.
Let’s take a look at the Korean sentence pattern Noun + 전에/후에. This is probably the most basic way to say the prepositions before and after in Korean. 전 means before and 후 means after. In actual use, we attach the particle 에 to them as in 전에 and 후에. They are added to a noun to express before and after that event, period of time, or occasion. For example, 크리스마스 전에 means before Christmas and 겨울 후에 means after winter. Even if it is a noun, it is possible to translate the phrase into before or after (gerund). For example, 여행 means travel or trip. 여행 후에 means after the trip, but it is also okay to say after taking the trip or after travelling. Here are sample sentences.
크리스마스 날 전에 만날래?
Wanna meet up on the day
before Christmas?
수술 전에 내가 얼마나 못생겼는지 알아?
Do you know how ugly I was before the surgery?
식사 후에 손 좀 씻어라.
